The Saudi Legal Database was an uncompleted project of the Economic Cities Legal Team of the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA), an agency of the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In order to develop a legal code for the Economic Cities, we had to examine Saudi regulations generally and review which regulations were appropriate for the Economic Cities project as well as which needed to be modified. We were aware of the fact that there aren’t law libraries as such in Saudi Arabia and that the free-flow of information could be better. With this in mind we accumulated translations from different sources and collected them for eventual distribution to the public. For a variety of reasons, we never set-up the official legal database web site, and the project eventually was put aside due to other priorities.

Later, lawyers from the Western Lawyers Group in Riyadh discussed the advantages of creating a Saudi law wiki. One of the first steps in creating the law wiki is to have a (more or less) comprehensive collection of Saudi laws. That project never came to fruition either. Here, for better or worse, is a selected compilation of Saudi laws.
